Why we included this project
Smithery CLI is a terminal tool for people running MCP-based agents who want to manage server connections and skills from the command line instead of hand-editing config files. It searches the Smithery registry, adds and removes MCP server connections, lists the tools those servers expose, and can call a tool directly for quick tests. It also handles agent skills: search the skills registry and install one aimed at a specific agent, like Claude Code. If you maintain your own MCP server, the CLI lets you publish its URL or a prebuilt bundle to a namespace, and the auth commands can mint scoped service tokens for automation. Teams running several agents across projects get one CLI that covers the whole workflow from discovery to publishing.
