Why we included this project

Anyone working on object detection, whether they are just starting out or have been following the field for years, will find this reading list useful. It gathers the major detection architectures, R-CNN and its successors, YOLO, SSD, RetinaNet, CornerNet and others, together with their papers, code links, and supplementary material, so you can see how the field moved from region proposals to anchor-free methods. The Date.md file sorts entries chronologically, which makes it easy to follow developments as they happened. The collection of survey papers is another time-saver, since it spares you from tracking down the same references yourself. This is a curated index rather than runnable software, so its value lies in the curation and the learning path it lays out.
