Why we included this project
OpenTag is a local-first gateway that lets a team run coding agents straight from the chat tools they already use. You tag @opentag in Slack, GitHub, GitLab, Linear, or Lark, and it hands the task to an agent like Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor running on your own machine, then posts the result back in the same thread. Since it is built on the Agent Client Protocol, the mention is not tied to one vendor, and six executors plus custom runners work out of the box. The interesting part is what counts as done: a run stays open until a pull request, green checks, or a merge satisfies the completion gates you configure, and the whole trail lands in a local audit ledger. That makes it a good fit for teams that want verifiable results and their code and credentials to stay on their own hardware.
