Why we included this project

Most teams now have an LLM writing or editing their docs, error messages, runbooks, and incident reports, and the output tends to read like a marketing post. This skill packages the ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English rules, the controlled language aerospace has relied on since 1983, into a SKILL.md file that Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot, Gemini CLI, and other Agent Skills-compatible harnesses can load. The rules push for short sentences, active voice, simple tenses, and one meaning per word, with no hedging, so the result reads like a maintenance manual rather than a LinkedIn post. It also includes adaptations for specific document types, a system-prompt fallback for tools that don't support skills, and a reproducible benchmark that measured fewer STE violations across six Claude models. If your team needs unambiguous, localization-friendly technical writing, this drops into an existing agent workflow with no dependencies.
