Why we included this project

Most of the appeal here is simple: you get an animated companion on your desktop that idles and wanders on its own, occasionally reacting to what you are doing, which does more for an empty workspace than it sounds like it should. A sandboxed plugin SDK lets you build new abilities in JavaScript or TypeScript, so the same pet can be a focus timer, a reminder nudge, a launcher, or a small game. What makes it worth a look for developers is the optional agent layer: Claude Code, OpenCode, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible assistants can trigger local pet reactions without ever leaking your prompts, code, paths, or secrets into speech bubbles. Everything runs local-first, and a pet appears the moment you launch with no agent setup required, so you get a genuine ambient sidekick instead of another code generator.
