Why we included this project
AIPex is for people who spend their day in a browser they are already logged into. Instead of spinning up a separate automation browser, it runs as a Chrome or Edge extension paired with a local daemon, letting the AI work on the tabs and pages actually open in front of you through browser APIs rather than screenshot loops. Coding agents such as Cursor, Claude Code, or VS Code Copilot can connect over MCP and drive that same open browser directly, and the bundled browser-cli hands the same control to shell scripts and CI jobs from the terminal. Everything runs locally with your own API key, so your browsing data never leaves the machine, which is a real difference from hosted operator tools. Developers who want dependable browser automation without giving up their normal workflow will find a sensible middle ground here.
