Why we included this project

Anyone doing serious work with German text should keep this list bookmarked. It is a hand-curated index of open-access corpora, off-the-shelf NLP tools, deep learning models, and evaluation resources, all specific to German and organized by task, so you can jump straight to tokenization, lemmatization, NER, or machine translation without re-searching the web. The maintainer deliberately favors tools that run as-is or with minor tweaks and that are still actively maintained, which spares you from tripping over abandoned projects. It also gathers teaching materials and links to other comparable lists, so it works both as a starting point for building a German pipeline and for learning the field. When you are scoping a German-language NLP project, this list gets you to working tools faster than generic search results.
