Why we included this project

VidGear is a thin Python layer over OpenCV and FFmpeg that saves you from wiring up video capture and encoding by hand. Its gears are ready-made classes for common pipelines, so you can pull frames from webcams, network sources, or YouTube links and feed them into OpenCV routines in a few lines.
