Why we included this project

OpenChatCut is a desktop video editor built around the idea that an AI agent should be able to edit your project without locking you out of it. Instead of handing back a finished clip you can't touch, it applies changes as real tracks, clips, transitions, captions, and effects on a multitrack timeline, so you can keep tweaking by hand, undo a step, or pass the project to a different agent. That makes it a practical fit for creators and small teams who want conversational editing but still need professional control. External agents can drive the same tools over MCP, so Codex or Claude Code can work on the project directly, and the editor handles transcript-based text cuts, automatic captions, motion graphics, and exports to MP4 and FCPXML.
