Why we included this project

Running a Milvus or Zilliz Cloud deployment usually means reaching for SDK calls and CLI flags, but Attu gives you a web or desktop console for the same work. From one instance it can connect to several clusters and handle schema design, collection browsing, vector search, backup and restore, task tracking, and health monitoring. The v3 rewrite adds an LLM agent that can inspect collections, run queries, and manage users in plain language, along with a REST playground and embedding provider setup. One caveat matters before you adopt it: the project moved to a proprietary license starting with version 2.6.0, so only the earlier 2.5.x releases are fully open source, and teams that need complete source access should weigh that before committing.
