Athena is a local-first agentic PKM that helps you make better decisions with your own context — persistent memory, structured reasoning, and governed AI agents that work across any LLM. Own the state. Rent the intelligence.

Why we included this project

Anyone who has watched a model update wipe out months of custom instructions, or lost a conversation when switching from ChatGPT to Claude, knows the problem Athena tackles. It runs as a local-first memory and reasoning layer in front of any LLM, so your notes, chat history, and context stay on your side while the model does the thinking. Persistent memory is paired with structured reasoning and governed agents, and hybrid RAG plus semantic search sit underneath to pull up the right context when you need it. For power users and small teams building a personal knowledge base that outlives platform churn, this is a practical starting point. It ships as a self-contained application rather than a library, so plan to run it as a tool.
