Why we included this project

This plugin is for anyone whose Zotero library is full of papers they meant to read. Drop a PDF in and it reads it for you, saving a structured Markdown note alongside the entry that captures the essentials, from the background and methods to what the experiments actually showed, so you can get the gist in minutes instead of an evening. Beyond that first-pass summary it can do a closer read of each section, answer follow-up questions in a side panel, generate a mind map, and even pull together a literature review from a whole folder. You supply your own API key and point it at OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, Ollama, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Requests go straight from your machine to the model provider, and the plugin states it never stores or uploads your library or key, which is reassuring when you are handling unpublished research.
