Why we included this project

Trace.moe answers the question every anime fan has run into: you have a screenshot and no idea which show it came from. Drop a frame into the search and it matches against tens of thousands of hours of anime footage, returning the show and episode along with the exact timestamp of the scene, plus a short preview clip so you can confirm the result before trusting it. The same backend is exposed as an HTTP API, which is how the project powers its own Telegram bot and browser extensions and how developers wire the search into automated tasks. Because matching runs on a vector image index, it also works as a useful reference if you are building reverse image search over a large media library.
