Why we included this project
SiYuan is a self-hosted knowledge base that treats notes more like a database than a flat pile of files. Its block-based Markdown editor supports two-way links, block-level references, and a knowledge graph, so you can actually navigate the connections between ideas. The built-in AI writing and Q&A chat works with OpenAI-compatible APIs, and MCP support lets external agents read and write your notes programmatically. You run it yourself via Docker and sync through WebDAV or S3, so individuals and small teams who care about data ownership can keep everything on their own hardware. A plugin and community marketplace means you can extend it instead of being stuck with a fixed feature set.
