Why we included this project
Most Go training tools either replay games or hand you raw engine output; KaTrain sits between them, wrapping KataGo's engine in a desktop board for interactive practice. Load a game you lost and it flags the moves that cost the most points, play live against the AI and get immediate feedback with the option to retry a bad move, or test yourself against deliberately weakened engine versions tuned to different styles. When a session ends it can generate focused SGF files isolating your biggest mistakes, so your review time lands on positions that actually hurt your results. Everything runs against a local KataGo engine rather than a hosted service, which means offline, private analysis without uploading your game records.
