Why we included this project
OpenCodex is a thin middleware layer that puts a browser front end on a Codex or ChatGPT Desktop session running elsewhere. Install it on the machine that runs Codex, and you can reach the same file tree, terminal, and review views from a phone, tablet, or any other computer on your LAN, or across a Tailscale, ZeroTier, or VPN mesh. That makes it a practical fit for teams that keep a powerful workstation running Codex and want to check in or keep working from lighter devices. It adds password protection and a desktop launcher for configuring the listen address and port. One thing to know before adopting it: OpenCodex is not a standalone agent; it assumes Codex or ChatGPT Desktop is already installed on the target machine.
