Why we included this project
Teams wiring LLM agents to their own tools and data are the main audience here. FastMCP turns an ordinary Python function into a Model Context Protocol server: add a decorator and the schema, validation, and docs are generated for you. It also covers the client side, managing transport negotiation, authentication, and the protocol lifecycle, so you can connect to local or remote servers without hand-rolling the protocol. The same project supports interactive apps that render tool UIs inside a conversation, and there's a maintained TypeScript version for teams on that stack. Since it was folded into the official MCP Python SDK, it's a safe choice for production integrations rather than an experimental wrapper.
