Why we included this project

iot-dc3 is a full industrial IoT platform rather than a single connector, and that distinction matters if your job is tying together equipment from several vendors. It ships 28 protocol drivers, including Modbus, OPC UA, Siemens S7, BACnet/IP, MQTT, and CoAP. When none of those fit, a driver SDK lets you add your own. Underneath sits the necessary plumbing: metadata management, time-series telemetry storage, command dispatch, and multi-tenancy. What sets the project apart is the built-in AI agent center, built on Spring AI with MCP support, which lets a language model query devices, write points, and walk through alarm analysis via tool calls that run under access control. Because that agent layer rides on a real gateway and auth stack rather than standing alone, teams that want agent-assisted operations without losing control of the data path will find it worth a serious look.
