Why we included this project
Finding a paper usually means hopping between arXiv, PubMed, bioRxiv, and a handful of other repositories, then wrestling with paywalls once you have a citation. This MCP server collapses that into a single search call: it queries many sources at once, deduplicates the hits, and returns results in a consistent format an LLM can consume. The download path is where it earns its keep, with a fallback chain that tries publisher open-access links, repository mirrors, and DOI resolution before giving up. It runs as an MCP server for Claude Desktop and other clients, or as a Claude Code skill with a CLI, and the free-first design means most sources work without paid API keys. Teams building research assistants or literature-review agents will find the extensible connector layer useful for adding their own sources.
