Onyx is a self-hosted AI platform that pairs a clean chat interface with serious retrieval built in. If your team wants an assistant that answers from your own documents and connected apps rather than just the model's training data, it's worth a look. It ships with 50+ indexing connectors out of the box, so you can point it at Confluence, Slack, Google Drive, and similar sources and get grounded answers with citations. Beyond plain Q&A it adds agentic RAG, multi-step deep research, custom agents, web search, and code execution, all in one deployable application. Teams that need a full-featured, self-hosted alternative to hosted AI assistants will get the most out of it, and the Lite mode offers a lighter chat-only path for quick evaluation.
