Why we included this project
Open Island is a native macOS companion for people who run AI coding agents in the terminal. It sits in the menu bar or notch and shows what your agents are doing, so you don't have to keep tabbing back to a terminal window you left behind. When an agent needs permission, the request appears there for you to approve, and one click drops you back into the exact terminal or IDE session. It is local-first and built with SwiftUI and AppKit rather than an Electron wrapper, so there is no server, account, or telemetry involved. Because it supports a range of agents and terminals, it stays useful even when you switch tools between projects.
