Why we included this project

This is a guided setup rather than a standalone app, aimed at people who want an AI knowledge base but freeze at words like "command line" or "environment variable." It walks you through installing Obsidian, a Claude-based chat plugin, and a model switcher, then points them at DeepSeek so the AI can take notes and answer questions from inside the editor. The core idea is a folder of plain-text notes as your brain, with an AI assistant living in the sidebar, which makes it a practical route to local, private knowledge management without a VPN or a paid subscription. The step-by-step guide and the six-region folder model are enough to get a non-technical user going, and the whole thing runs on pennies of DeepSeek usage. Automated integrations and safeguards are left to the fuller FridayOS project, so this is best for people who want to learn the habit first.
