Why we included this project

paperai is for researchers and medical professionals who need solid answers from a large corpus of scientific papers without reading each one by hand. Built on top of txtai, it runs bulk RAG pipelines from a configuration file, so you can fire hundreds of questions at a repository at once and get responses grounded in the actual source documents rather than a single chat reply. Results come back as Markdown, CSV, or annotations drawn directly onto the PDFs, which fits a literature review workflow well. Because everything is config-driven, the process is scriptable and repeatable, which makes it a good fit for teams maintaining their own private paper collections.
