Why we included this project

OB1 is aimed at people who are tired of their AI tools starting from scratch every conversation. Instead of another notes app, it runs a self-hosted Postgres database with vector search that any assistant can read from and write to through the MCP protocol, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and whatever ships next all share the same persistent memory of you. The whole stack comes bundled: the database, an AI gateway, and a capture channel, and you can stand it up yourself with Docker or by pointing an AI coding assistant at the repo. That fits individuals and small teams who want durable agent memory without assembling middleware or paying a SaaS subscription. The repo also includes companion prompts and a library of extensions and recipes for practical things like household knowledge, a personal CRM, calendar capture, and job hunting, which gives you concrete starting points instead of a bare database.
