Why we included this project
motionEyeOS packages a complete video surveillance setup as a Linux distribution you flash straight onto an SD card, so a Raspberry Pi or similar single-board computer becomes a working camera system without assembling a stack of packages yourself. It detects USB webcams, Raspberry Pi camera modules, and IP cameras automatically and serves them through a mobile-friendly web interface for live viewing and configuration. Motion detection is built in, and it can fire off still captures, AVI recordings, and email or push notifications on a schedule, plus timelapses saved to SD, USB, SMB shares, or cloud storage. It's a reasonable low-cost choice for a home or office CCTV setup, though the original author has stepped back and is looking for a maintainer, so budget for the project's ongoing upkeep.
