Why we included this project
This repo is a good starting point when you want to see how the LLM field has developed without drowning in scattered papers. It pairs a visual tree that traces well-known language models over the past few years with a survey paper and a large list of papers and blog posts organized by topic. That combination is handy for developers or technical leads trying to decide which model family to study: the tree shows how the major models relate to one another, and the linked sources let you go deeper on whatever catches your eye. The repo also documents usage and licensing restrictions for commercial and research use, which saves real time when you need to know whether a candidate model can ship in a product. As a curated index rather than software, the value is the editorial selection and structure it brings to material that would otherwise be hard to navigate.
