Why we included this project

Speech Note is for people who want dictation and translation without routing audio through a cloud service. It bundles more than a dozen offline speech engines, from whisper.cpp and Piper to the Bergamot translator, behind one note-taking interface: you can dictate, read back, or translate text in many languages with no network connection. Models aren't packed with the app; a graphical picker downloads the ones you want, and the program installs as a Flatpak on Linux. It's a finished desktop application rather than a library, so journalists, researchers, and others handling sensitive material can test it as-is instead of wiring speech into their own pipeline.
