Why we included this project
Anyone trying to trace how modern NLP actually got built will get more out of this than a bare folder of links. Each paper is paired with a short TLDR that states the core contribution in plain language, so you can skip the skimming and jump straight to the idea you are chasing. The selection runs from HMM-based POS taggers and early neural sequence taggers through dependency parsers and on into transformer-era work, which makes it useful both for newcomers getting oriented and for engineers brushing up on a technique they have not touched in a while. Two special markers single out papers that introduced major datasets or marked genuine turning points in the literature, a practical way to decide what deserves a full read. It is a reading list rather than software you deploy, but as a map of how the field evolved it is one of the more thoughtfully assembled collections around.
