Why we included this project

Eidos is a local-first answer to Notion-style personal data tools: instead of handing your notes to a cloud vendor, it stores everything as SQLite databases inside a folder you control. Any .eidos file is a standard database you can open with ordinary SQLite tooling, and because your notes, tables, and version history live on disk, they stay readable even when you are offline or signed out. The interface mixes rich-text editing with spreadsheet-like tables, and an extension system lets you reshape the workspace to your own habits rather than conform to a preset layout. There is also a built-in AI layer that summarizes, translates, or restructures content using whatever model you point it at, which makes the whole thing attractive to privacy-minded people and developers who want a personal knowledge base that stays portable and scriptable.
