Why we included this project
StashBase is a desktop app that indexes the documents already on your machine, so AI agents can search them instead of guessing. You open a folder and work with the material in place, with no need to move anything into a proprietary workspace. It handles awkward formats like scanned documents, offers exact-text search, and can add semantic retrieval on top. The MCP server is the part teams will care about: the same authorized library can be shared with Claude Code, Codex, or other MCP clients, which means agents answer from real project files. Your folders stay the source of truth, and the index can be rebuilt from them whenever you like.
