Why we included this project

The Hugging Face Agents Course is a free, structured curriculum that takes you from the basics of LLM-based agents to a final project scored against a benchmark. The units walk through what agents are, fine-tuning a model for function calling, and building with the main frameworks (smolagents, LangGraph, LlamaIndex), with a separate unit on agentic RAG and a bonus on observability and evaluation. What makes it useful for developers and small teams is the hands-on format: each concept comes with practical exercises, and the course ends with an automated evaluation and leaderboard, so you can confirm your agent actually works. The repo is actively maintained and open to contributions, which helps the material keep pace with how these frameworks change in practice.
