Why we included this project

Text-to-SQL research moves quickly, and this handbook is one of the better ways to keep up without reading every new paper yourself. It is the companion repository to two peer-reviewed surveys, a TKDE survey and a VLDB study, and it organizes the field around the practical parts of building such systems: turning questions into SQL, assembling training data and benchmarks, evaluating results, and diagnosing errors. The curated paper list mixes recent work like Alpha-SQL, EllieSQL, and NL2SQL-BUGs with the classic survey literature, so you can trace both where the field stands now and how it got there. Teams deciding which approach to adopt, and researchers planning new work, will save real time on literature searching thanks to the chapter structure and benchmark pointers. Treat it as a continuously updated reading guide and citation index, not as deployable software.
