Why we included this project

Most architecture knowledge ends up scattered across wikis and ADR files, and EventCatalog gives teams one structured, searchable place to keep it. You document domains, services, events, and messages the way the system is actually built, attaching runbooks and decision records where they belong. Everything stays versioned and machine-readable, so the built-in chat and MCP server can answer natural-language questions and let AI agents pull current facts instead of guessing. If you already maintain AsyncAPI or OpenAPI definitions, the generators import that work and keep the catalog in sync, which makes EventCatalog a practical home for event-driven and microservice documentation.
