Why we included this project
Terax is for developers who are happiest at a shell prompt but don't want to give up editor conveniences to stay there. It's a native desktop app that puts a real PTY terminal, a code editor, file explorer, and git tooling with a commit graph in one window, with an agentic AI panel that can read your project, propose edits with visible diffs, run commands after you approve them, and remember context in a TERAX.md file. The AI works with your own API keys or fully local models through Ollama, LM Studio, or MLX, so nothing forces you to create an account or send telemetry. At roughly 7 MB on disk it stays out of the way, and the split panels plus WSL support make it practical for day-to-day work on macOS, Linux, or Windows.
