Why we included this project
Most note-taking tools expect you to file and structure a thought the moment it arrives, which is exactly when ideas, screenshots, and stray links get dumped into a backlog and never touched again. NoteGen separates capture from organizing. You save a fragment while it is fresh, then later pick the records that belong together and have an LLM assemble them into a structured Markdown note you can edit and extend. Your notes stay in plain Markdown files inside a workspace you choose, so they move cleanly to Git, other editors, or your own sync setup. The app can also index those local files and answer questions against them with semantic and hybrid search. For developers, researchers, and technical writers who collect scattered material but want the finished writing to stay their own, it is a practical way to build a lasting knowledge base.
