Why we included this project

This booklet walks through the four main phases of building a production machine learning system: project setup, the data pipeline, modeling, and serving. It was written for engineers prepping for ML systems design interviews, and it ends with 27 open-ended design questions plus links to community answers. Along the way it points to practical resources and real-world case studies from ML engineers at major tech companies, so you get a sense of how these systems actually get deployed. The author later published a much more comprehensive book on the same subject, so treat this as a compact study companion rather than a full reference.
