Why we included this project

This repository is the companion hub for Chip Huyen's book AI Engineering, and it works as a study guide you can actually move through. Alongside the table of contents and chapter summaries, it collects study notes, prompt examples, case studies, and a curated list of AI engineering resources, so it reads like a practical companion rather than a book advertisement. The Jupyter notebook that turns your ChatGPT and Claude conversations into a heatmap is a small but genuinely useful extra for spotting your own usage patterns. For developers and small teams trying to get past demos and into production-grade foundation-model applications, the book's framing questions, on everything from evaluation and hallucination to RAG, agents, and finetuning, line up with the choices you make every day. It is a learning resource, not deployable software, but it is one of the more grounded places to start building a shared mental model of AI engineering across a team.
