Why we included this project

Anthropic runs this directory itself, so it is the obvious first place to look for Claude Code plugins without digging through random GitHub repos. The marketplace separates plugins Anthropic maintains from third-party ones that have passed a review, and the README is blunt about the trust model: Anthropic does not control what MCP servers or files a plugin bundles, so you should check a plugin's homepage before installing it. Browsing the directory also works as a reference for plugin structure, since each entry shows the standard layout of metadata, optional MCP config, slash commands, agents, and skills. The docs cover the details that trip people up, like immutable plugin names and how skill bundles work.
