Why we included this project
AliceVision is a serious photogrammetry framework for anyone who needs to recover measurable 3D geometry from a pile of ordinary photographs or video footage. It chains structure-from-motion, multi-view stereo, meshing, and texturing into a complete reconstruction pipeline, and it can also track camera poses through the footage. The underlying algorithms are modular C++ libraries that you can reuse directly, and they also feed the node-graph editor in Meshroom, so you can work interactively or script your own pipeline. Teams doing cultural-heritage scanning, drone mapping, or VFX camera tracking will find the quality here is built for production use rather than demos. Expect to compile it yourself and adapt your own capture workflow, since this is a framework to build on, not a turnkey app.
