Why we included this project

This is a book rather than a piece of software, and a genuinely useful one: a field guide to OpenAI Codex written by someone who builds products entirely with AI, never writing code by hand. It walks through all five forms of Codex (CLI, desktop app, cloud, IDE extension, and the Chrome extension) plus the mobile companion, from a ten-minute install to shipping a real product. What makes it worth reading is the honesty about rough edges: it notes where GPT-5.5 still loses to Claude Opus, flags the Windows Full Access file-deletion incidents, and compares Codex and Claude Code with actual data. Engineers evaluating agentic coding tools, Claude Code users curious about the alternative, and solo founders shipping MVPs will all find decision-useful detail. The book ships as PDF, EPUB, and single-file HTML in both English and Chinese, so it reads fine on any device or can be fed to an agent as context.
